Description:The Writer/Editor is responsible for working with Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) teams to develop and edit clear, concise, and audience-specific communications for a wide variety of mediums and purposes in support of HWT’s mission.
Duties:Establish and maintain exceptional and comprehensive knowledge of HWT’s philosophy, curricula, and products.

Support the development and writing of educational content that is original, clear, persuasive, and inspirational and that integrates with HWT strategies and goals.

Conceptualize, develop, and write content for company web sites and other online communications; stay abreast of current industry best practices for effective style and content presentation for online media.

Proofread and edit all HWT copy and products to check spelling/grammar and ensure consistency among documents and the style manual.

Help maintain HWT editorial standards and style guide.

Assist with the production of newsletters for all HWT audiences in collaboration with Marketing, Creative Services, and Instructional Designers.

Conduct research independently and with content and program experts to understand audience needs and gain specific knowledge relevant to school administrators, educators, students, and parents.

Build strong partnerships with and maintain a high level of communication and trust across all teams to ensure their comfort in the ability to convert ideas and work into accessible, relevant content and meet their business needs.

Communicate complex topics clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Learn and use technology to support business processes (e.g., RoboHead, SharePoint, and InCopy).

Participate in brainstorming and creative concept development.

Attend relevant events (e.g., tradeshows and workshops) and develop, modify, and create materials to be used at or in conjunction with these events.
Qualifications:B.A. or B.S. required (or significant equivalent work experience).

2+ years related experience in writing and editing.

Knowledge of public school systems and/or the publishing industry preferred but not required.

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis and within frequent, tight, deadlines.

Ability to work independently and in teams.

Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, customers and vendors.

Ability to excel in a rapidly changing environment.

Expertise with MS Office.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to travel:
-Approximately 4 trips per year.
-Approximately 10 travel days per year.
-Approximately 5% of working time
